Disclaimer - I am an enormous Francophile. I have always wanted to visit France since learning some slightly dodgy french in high school. We first visited Paris when the twins were about eight and it lived up to everything I’d imagined. However it was Provence which really stole my heart when we visited in 2019 and it is true what you hear about the quality of the light being a little magical hence becoming the home base for so many artists. It also smells amazing - warm, earthy and herby (if that’s a word!). We hired electric bikes to cover a lot of ground - although slightly challenging as it happened to be a European heatwave when we visited - up to 40 degrees most days.
