Saltwater Therapy at 1770/Agnes Waters
It’s a bit of a drive (about 6 hours from our place) but for a gorgeous secluded coastal stay we love 1770. There is an eco estate right on the beach called Sunrise at 1770 where we have stayed in houses for a couple of years now - completely relaxed with a walk to the often deserted beach complete with rockpools, e bike rides into town and the gorgeous paperbark forest board walk which is magical early morning with the filtered light.
On the way this time we stopped at bundaberg at Macadamias Australia - I didn’t know that macadamia trees are native to northern nsw/southern queensland. I have childhood memories of cracking them open with a hammer with my dad.
This time I was particularly inspired by the coastal trees - there was one in particular - pretty sure it is a bloodwood gum which had the most beautiful shapes created from its limbs that framed the ocean. So this was inspiration for my new work - currently in progress but likely to be finished this month. Also the textures and light filtered through the banksias…
