Whimsical and Romantic Cut Flowers and Picking Field

We plan to have a farmstand on Witta Road as well as open garden days and relaxing, flower filled workshops. In the field and fairytale garden we are in the process of establishing 100 romantic old fashioned type roses, cottage inspired native flowers such as paperdaisies, herbs, yarrow, echinacea, lavenders, bulbs, violets, dahlias and seasonal annuals including sunflowers, zinnia, cosmos, and other treasures.

In a previous chapter (quite a while ago now!) I ran a not for profit called The Flower Project Foundation with a team of other volunteers and we created and gifted hundreds of “bouquets of caring” to people in the community and sold flowers under a social enterprise model. The costs and stress of running a charity eventually made this unfeasible so it would be lovely to bring a little of this back informally with excess flowers in season. As a psychologist I’ve also been inspired to incorporate nature therapy and creativity into people’s lives - beautiful and powerful medicine.

Coming late 2026

I’ve often said that is I wasn’t a psychologist, I would be a flower farmer.

Below the Fairytale Garden is a grass field that lends itself to a small flower farm - we want to cultivate flowers in the open, no sprays, plastic or transport environmental impact, pollinator friendly and to pick and share locally as affordable cut flowers, truly grown with love. We will be planting this field over the coming months with a bit of experimentation. The main challenges will be enthusiastic bandicoots, nibbling wallabies and hares, heavy clay soil and periods of intense rainfall… We were able to harvest many bunches of the beauties below in just the first six months of the garden as we roadtest what is going to grow well.
