Garden Art Studio at Cedar Creek

This is my studio (complete with construction shots at the bottom of the gallery below). It is a premade kit from an Australian company called IMBY. It comes in hundreds of pieces (think IKEA on a mass scale). I have painted a little over the past 6-7 years but it was always tricky with getting a mess everywhere in the house so this is a wonderful solution and makes it easier to start knowing that everything is set up and it doesn’t matter if I get paint everywhere. The Queensland humidity is proving a bit tricky with the raw wood it is made of with mildew (it is now coming up to one year old) but I really love having this space and I have a ritual of burning some beautiful incense, filling my birdbaths with flowers and playing music in the speaker that sets the scene for easy creativity.

The little red brown chook is very affectionate “Beula” (the cheapest chook we own and the friendliest of the lot!) and she is a constant visitor when I am painting to check on my progress every couple of hours she does a lap of the studio. The girls have a little drinking bowl outside and are good company throughout the day. Outside my studio I have a water feature with little wrens by Australian artist Folko Kooper from Tasmania. I love this sculpture. So does the resident bush turkey who loves to get the big pebbles out of the water for some unknown reason….
